A Little More Caballito Time
October 23, 2012
A quick gallop while Rebecca does the shopping.
Three monkeys we found up a tree and a woodland creature of the forest floor
A quick gallop while Rebecca does the shopping.
All smiles on the mexican hule changing mat.
We left Vega very early in the morning, Jim and Riu managed to catch some rays of the rising sun and I caught a bagful of ripe plums to hand out to the other peregrinos along the way.
We walked out of Vega and into Galicia where Riu met her yaya, Granizado Kennedy. Grandmother is ‘la abuela’ in spanish and in motherese it’s contracted down to yaya.

We stayed a few nights in the divine valley of Vega de Valcarce, the last town in Castille y Leon before the steep climb into Galicia. We met the very sweet, shining and soulful Joanne who cooked us some incredible Brazilian beans with a great tropical salad. We ate outdoors, on the patio and drank wine in the light of July’s full moon.
It makes my hair stand up just thinking about it.
Such a sweet little face.
But don’t be fooled. She’s got some sharp gnashers in dem thar gums.
Eek.
